The aim of the camp is to raise awareness about taking action to save Mother Earth in view of the current phenomena of global climate change. The main activities carried out during the festival were Zip Line Tour (Flying Fox, Leap of Faith, etc.), Amazing Nature Hunt, ‘Lights Off’ Concert, Mountain Bike Tour and White Water Rafting. GVC Team Malaysia participated in the World Walking Day on 28 October, 2012. This event was organized by Nestle Malaysia in conjunction with their 100 year anniversary celebration globally. With a record high of more than 4,000 participants, this event was definitely a success. As for SMJK Poi Lam Team Malaysia, World Walking Day was a very good way to help promote walking as a healthy form of exercise to help prevent or overcome obesity. And this in turn aptly fits in with the theme of our Global Virtual Classroom (GVC) ‘Teenage Health’ Website Design Project. Our participation in Nestle’s World Walking Day was published in two local Chinese dailies whereby iEARN Global Virtual Classroom and our two project partner schools i.e. Menchville High School, USA and La Salle, Almeria, Spain were mentioned and given much publicity. |

This is a movie of Jessica, the team captain, on the announcements at Menchville High School. In order to raise awareness about healthy eating Team USA sponsored a calorie count drawing at school. Students who conducted a calorie count for a week had their names inserted into the drawing to win a gift certificate at a healthy restaurant. Because of low numbers of entries the team decided to give two certificates out. The winners were Jessica K. and Jonathan H. |
